Here's how it works. Five Simple Steps:

1)Check for Sunlight.
Ensure that you've got a site for your Economy Garden that receives at least 5-6 hours of direct sunlight every day, is within easy reach of your hose or watering can, and is accessible by wheelbarrow. (If you need help determining your sunlight, take a look at the "Select Your Site" section of our Food Gardening 101 resource).

2)Purchase Online

3)Flag Garden Site Within (approx.) a week of purchase, you'll receive four yard flags via the US Postal Service. Stake flags according to directions (included in envelope) to mark the future location of your soon-coming Economy Garden.

4)Installation Once we confirm directions to your home and get word that your flags are in place, we'll drop by ASAP to install your Economy Garden. When we visit, we'll leave behind a packet of straightforward info-sheets to boost your food gardening success including: "What Can You Grow in a Square," (which provides a garden planning map and covers seasonality and plant spacing) and "Food Gardening 101" (which covers subjects like selecting your site, how to plant & transplant, watering, growing vertically, etc).

5)Grow Your Own Food and Share it According to a Tallahassee Food Gardens study, it is possible to raise more than 2lbs of food per square foot (32lbs in a 4x4) during a 5-6month fall/winter growing season, not to mention spring and the rest of the year. Thus, conceivably, it's possible to raise double that amount, or over 60lbs of local, organic produce from a 4x4 raised bed in a single year. That's a value of over $240 at local, organic prices. Not a bad pay-back on $125.
